Bet on the World Darts ChampionshipWill Littler Go One Better in 2025?
Luke Littler burst onto the scene in 2023, reaching the final of the World Darts Championship. Instead of enjoying the moment and resting on his laurels, the 17-year-old has kicked on this year, picking up some eye-catching tournament wins.
“The Nuke” has been backed to go far again, and the Warrington-born superstar could be the man to beat in London. Littler is the 19/10 favourite to lift the trophy in January.
Luke Humphries beat Littler in last year’s final, and “Cool Hand Luke” will be looking to retain his world title. He followed up his win at Ally Pally by winning the World Matchplay and the Players Championship. Humphries is priced at 3/1 to make it back-to-back world championships.
Several familiar faces are hoping to go far in the English capital, including Dutch legend Michael van Gerwen. The three-time world champion has not won darts’ biggest prize since 2019. Van Gerwen is available at 5/1; you can get 9/1 for Gary Anderson, while Rob Cross and Mike De Decker are both priced at 19/1.
World Darts Championship History
Humphries picked up the win last year, beating Littler 7-4 in a thrilling final. Due to Littler’s stunning rise, Humphries was somewhat of an unpopular opponent. Nevertheless, he got on with the task at hand and was too hot to handle for the teenager.
Since 1994, the World Championship has been dominated by British players. The great Phil Taylor won 11 of the first 13 and 14 overall. Scots Gary Anderson and Peter Wright are two-time winners, while Rob Cross, Michael Smith, and Gerwyn Price have also been crowned world champions in recent times.
The title has only left Britain six times, with Van Gerwen picking up three wins. John Part was the first non-British winner in 2003, while the Canadian also took home the trophy in 2008.
2024 World Darts Championship Betting Tips & Predictions
The 2025 World Darts Championship is a fitting way to close the curtain on 2024. Darts in general is growing in popularity at a rapid rate, and the 2025 edition promises to throw up many more thrills and spills.
Several players can go all the way, but could it be Littler’s time to shine? The youngster will be well backed, and 19/10 is certainly a fair price. Littler’s first game will take place on December 21st.
Also, keep an eye on Van Gerwen. “The Green Machine” is searching for his first world title in six years, and you can never rule out the three-time winner at Ally Pally. The Dutch ace is priced at 5/1.
