The Tournament Contenders

Scottie Scheffler is the favourite for most events these days, and the world No. 1 has been tipped by many to win the Genesis in California. Scheffler is priced at just 5.00 to get his hands on the trophy.

Rory McIlroy has made a good start to the season, with the Northern Ireland ace playing some top stuff of late. McIlroy has already won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this year. McIlroy is the second favourite in the Genesis at 7.70.

Colin Morikawa (14.00) and Justin Thomas (17.00) are further back in the betting, while Hideki Matsuyama is available at 21.00. Thomas Dentry, who won the WM Phoenix Open last week, is a huge outsider at 51.00.

The Genesis, also known as the Los Angeles Open, is a popular tournament on the PGA Tour. Several huge names have won this event, including Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson, and Bubba Watson. Who will come out on top in 2025?

Scheffler Too Hot to Handle in California?

Scheffler had an incredible 2024, winning a host of tournaments to cement his place at the top of the standings. He is looking for his first victory of 2025, but Scheffler could be the man to beat at Torrey Pines.

The 28-year-old from New Jersey was tipped to win last week’s Phoenix Open in Arizona, but Scheffler struggled in the final round and ended in tied 25^th. However, we are backing the world No. 1 to bounce back with a win in California (5.00).

Matsuyama also had a disappointing tournament last week, but the Japanese star has made a strong start to the season. Matsuyama won The Sentry at the beginning of 2025 and prevailed in last year’s Genesis Invitational.

Winning the tournament could be a step too far, but we can see the 32-year-old finishing in the top five in San Diego (4.00).
