Bet on the Scottish Genesis OpenThe Tournament Contenders
Scottie Scheffler will fancy his chances of coming out on top on Scottish soil. The world No. 1 heads to North Berwick as the bookies’ favourite, priced at 9.00.
Scheffler made a slow start to the 2025 season, but the 29-year-old burst into life with his CJ Cup Byron Nelson victory in early May. The New Jersey-born star has followed that up by winning the PGA Championship and Memorial Tournament.
Rory McIlroy will have one eye on the Open, which takes place in his native Northern Ireland. Winning that event on home soil at 36 would be a career highlight. However, “Wee-Mac” will be focusing on the Scottish Open right now.
McIlroy heads back to the UK in high spirits, picking up three PGA Tour wins in 2025. He followed up February’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am success by winning the Players Championship in March. McIlroy then famously won the Masters Tournament in April.
The Northern Ireland star is having a memorable season, and he could be set for more success in the second half of the year. McIlroy is the second favourite behind Scheffler at 9.00.
A little further back in the betting is Tommy Fleetwood. The Englishman has never won a PGA Tour event but has been a serial winner on the European Tour.
There have been positive signs since his last notable victory at the 2024 Dubai Invitational. Can Fleetwood upset the applecart and win in Scotland (17.00) this weekend?
Scotsman Robert MacIntyre would love to pull off another shock victory in front of his home fans. The 28-year-old is a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, with last year’s Genesis Scottish Open victory the highlight. He is available at 21.00 to retain his crown.
Colin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele are also priced at 21.00, while you can get Ludvig Aberg at 23.00. Elsewhere, Viktor Hovland is 29.00, and Sam Burns is generously priced at 33.00.
Can MacIntyre Impress on Home Soil Again?
MacIntyre stunned the Renaissance Club last year, prevailing on home soil to secure his second PGA Tour victory. He became the first Scotsman to win this home event since Colin Montgomerie came out on top in 1999.
MacIntyre loves this venue, narrowly missing out in 2024 when he was beaten by McIlroy by 1 stroke. Winning this year will take some doing, but we are backing MacIntyre to finish in the top five at 5.20.
As for our outright winner pick, we cannot look past McIlroy. The world No. 2 is looking for top form ahead of the Open Championship, and 9.00 for him to win this week’s Scottish Open is too good to turn down.
