The Tournament Contenders

J.J. Spaun was back on top last week, winning the US Open in Pennsylvania. That was Spaun’s first tournament victory on the PGA Tour since winning the Valero Texas Open in 2022.

The 34-year-old Californian is a 50.00 outsider to get his hands on the Travelers Championship trophy this weekend.

Scottie Scheffler was the favourite to win the US Open, and the world No. 1 is top of the betting list heading into the Travelers. You can get just 3.80 for the New Jersey-born ace to come out on top.

Scheffler won this tournament for the first time last year. He impressed throughout, beating Tom Kim in a playoff to win the title.

Rory McIlroy is available at 12.00, and the British ace is gunning for a fourth victory of what has been a superb 2025 season so far. McIlroy has already won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the Players Championship, and the Masters Tournament.

Colin Morikawa is still looking for his first PGA Tour win since the 2023 Zozo Championship. The 28-year-old is the joint third favourite behind Scheffler and McIlroy, priced at 15.00. Xander Schauffele, the 2022 winner, is also available at 15.00.

Elsewhere in the betting, you can get Ludvig Aberg at 23.00, while Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas are available at 25.00. Further back are Sepp Straka and Viktor Hovland (both 30.00).

Apart from outright favourite Scheffler, the betting is wide open for this year’s Travelers Championship.

Can Scheffler be Stopped?

Scheffler made a slow start to 2025, but his form of late has been excellent. He picked up his first victory of the season at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in early May, with the PGA Championship and Memorial Tournament following.

The world No. 1 is the man to beat at TPC at River Highlands in Cromwell. After a disappointing US Open by his high standards, we fancy Scheffler to return to winning ways this week. He is our pick at 3.80.

Keegan Bradley has had plenty of success in recent Travelers Championships, winning the event in 2023. The Vermont-born star beat Zac Blair and Brian Harman by 3 strokes to claim his sixth PGA Tour win. Bradley was also runner-up in 2019.

His season has yet to really take off, but we are backing Bradley to have a strong tournament in Connecticut. Check out the tempting price of 7.50 for the 39-year-old to secure another top-five place at TPC at River Highlands.
