Iceland and Finland meet in the opening game of the tournament on Wednesday evening. The Finns are hoping to cause an upset, but the Icelanders are the clear favourites at Arena Thun.
Iceland, ranked 14th in the world, could be a dark horse in the competition. They had an impressive qualifying campaign, collecting 13 points from six Group A4 games. Germany won the group, with Iceland finishing just two points behind in second.
Finland needed the play-offs to book their place in Switzerland. They finished bottom of League A, Group 1, taking just five points from a possible 18. Nevertheless, the Finns got the better of Montenegro and Scotland in the play-offs.
Finland could be tough customers in Thun, but Iceland’s superiority should get them over the line. We like the look of the Iceland win and both teams to score at 3.95.

Belgium and Italy face off in a Group B match in Sion on Thursday. The Italians are looking to go far in Switzerland, but can they see off the Belgians at the Stade de Tourbillon in game one?
Belgium finished third in Group A2 and had to settle for a play-off place. After easing past Greece in round one, they beat Ukraine 4-1 on aggregate to book their spot in the Euro 2025 tournament.
Despite taking just nine points from a possible 18 in League A, Group 1, Italy finished top and qualified automatically. The Italians won two, drew three, and lost one, with their victory over Netherlands being enough for first place.
Italy should be too hot for Belgium to handle in Sion, and we are backing the Blues to prevail by a margin. You can get 2.35 for Andrea Soncin’s ladies to win -1.

One of the standout opening-round fixtures is Thursday’s Group B clash in Bern between Spain and Portugal. The Spaniards are the tournament favourites before a ball has been kicked in anger on Swiss soil.
La Roja have struggled in European Championships over the years, but they won the most recent FIFA Women’s World Cup and were crowned UEFA Women’s Nations League winners in 2024.
Portugal won qualifying Group B3, were promoted to League A of the Nations League, and entered the play-offs. They got the better of Azerbaijan and Czech Republic to secure a spot in the Euros.
The tournament favourites should get off to a winning start at Stadion Wankdorf. You can get 1.75 for Spain to win both halves.
