The championship bout between Topuria and Oliveira promises to produce fireworks. Topuria is the bookies’ favourite, but can Oliveira spring a surprise in Las Vegas?

Topuria has a stunning professional record, winning 16 out of 16. His last bout came against Max Holloway at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi, with the German-born ace easing to a knockout victory.

After recent losses to Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan, Oliveira got back to winning ways last time out in New York. The Brazilian beat Michael Chandler via unanimous decision at UFC 309.

The fight for the vacant UFC Lightweight Championship will no doubt be thrilling. Many are backing Topuria, but Oliveira has shown plenty of fighting spirit during his UFC career, and the 35-year-old is certainly capable of causing an upset.

UFC 317 is packed full of fascinating fights, including the Flyweight title bout between Alexandre Pantoja and Kai Kara-France. Pantoja beat Kara-France in The Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions in 2016, but both are different fighters nine years on.

Brandon Royval and Joshua Van square off in the Flyweight division, while Beneil Dariush and Renato Moicano lock horns in a Lightweight matchup. Also, Bantamweights Payton Talbott and Felipe Lima go head-to-head in Paradise.

The preliminary card also looks solid, with Jack Hermansson and Gregory Rodrigues locking horns. The Women’s Flyweight battle between Viviane Araujo and Tracy Cortez has also caught the eye.

Topuria to Topple Oliveira

All eyes will be on the Topuria-Oliveira bout for the vacant UFC Lightweight Championship, and both fighters will fancy their chances of leaving Vegas with the belt.

Age is on Topuria’s side, which could be a huge factor. He is in the prime of his life at 28, while Oliveira is a veteran at 35. Topuria left his weight class and means business in the lightweight division.

Topuria’s UFC record is exemplary, and we fancy the former UFC Featherweight Champion to get his hands on the lightweight belt at T-Mobile Arena. Back Topuria to prevail at 1.21.

The co-main event between Pantoja and Kara-France is set to be a belter. Pantoja, the reigning champion, is the 1.42 favourite, but can Kara-France upset the Brazilian?

Pantoja has won seven in a row since his loss to Askar Askarov in 2020, while Kara-France has suffered two defeats in his last three.
